Temperature’s Rising – Our Reach is Expanding

The temperature has been a challenge this summer, but it hasn’t slowed down NECA Boston or our member contractors. This month’s newsletter highlights a host of exciting updates and member activities. In all, a productive and forward-looking month for our chapter.

First, we’re proud to announce the launch of our new Project Management Apprenticeship Program, developed in partnership with ELECTRI International and American Apprenticeships Work. This 12-month program promises to provide the next generation of project managers with hands-on learning, real-time coaching, and modern online instruction – another example of how NECA Boston is leading the charge on workforce innovation.

In the policy arena, we continue to advocate for smart, worker-focused legislation. I was proud to join with fellow industry leaders in co-authoring an op-ed supporting Governor Healey’s executive order on Project Labor Agreements (PLAs). Meanwhile, our own Walter Morrell and Brad McClusky were on Capitol Hill alongside peers from around the country at the NECA Next-Gen Fly-In. They met with our congressional delegation to discuss key issues including copper tariffs, the LEAP Act, and the need for permitting reform. Their advocacy helped spotlight the challenges and contributions of our contractors at the national level.

Looking ahead, we’ll be presenting proposed updates to our chapter bylaws for a member vote on September 10. These changes reflect a more inclusive, forward-thinking approach to leadership and governance. I encourage all members to review the updates and make plans to attend and vote.

You can also read about the newly relaunched NECA Boston website at www.bostonneca.org. Boasting a full, modern redesign and improved functionality, the website makes it easier than ever to stay up to date on chapter news, events, and resources.

Finally, NECA Boston continues to foster strong relationships with our regional partners. We report on our recent visit (with IBEW Local 103) to Philadelphia to exchange strategies and deepen collaboration with our counterparts in the City of Brotherly Love. We also hosted NECA’s Eastern Region Managers Meeting at the Greater Boston JATC, welcoming peers from across the Northeast for a robust two-day program on labor, legal updates, and emerging tech.

July has been a month of growth and partnership. Thanks to our membership for your continued engagement and support. Enjoy the rest of summer … and stay cool!
