In memory of the late Francis “Fran” Angino, a luminary in the construction industry, NECA Boston invites qualified applicants to submit their application for several scholarships to support educational pursuits.

 

Fran's enduring dedication and unwavering commitment to industry growth have left an indelible mark on the electrical industry. As a distinguished businessman and stalwart in the field, Fran played a pivotal role at Mass Electric Construction Company (MEC), transforming it into a nationwide leader. His legacy lives on through this scholarship, dedicated to advancing education in construction management. Join us in honoring Fran's vision and nurturing future industry leaders.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

Scholarships are available to NECA and IBEW Local 103 members for continuing education in the construction industry. Applicable course work includes project management, engineering, electrical design.

NECA and IBEW Local 103 members who meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Apprentices (third, fourth, fifth year) in good standing
  • Journeymen electricians and technicians in good standing
  • Employees of NECA Contractors with at least three years of verifiable experience

Application Requirements

Applicants are responsible for submitting all required material via e-mail or mail by the due date, including:

  • Completed application packet (see page 3 – 4)
  • Proof of employment and/or proof of enrollment in the JATC
  • Signature of the NECA Member Company Representative. (The Company Representative is the Owner, President, or CEO of the company)
  • Name of the school and program applying for or currently attending

Award Availability

Awards are only available through NECA Boston. There are other construction industry scholarships available which require separate applications.

Award Amounts

NECA scholarships are available for full-time employees or apprentices in good standing. Award checks are made payable to the educational institution and limited to no more than $5,000 per calendar year.

What are the Scholarship Application Deadlines?

Application open: June 1, 2024 – July 31, 2024

Submission Deadline: July 31, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.

Successful recipients will be notified in the last week of August.

What is the Selection Process?

The Scholarship Committee, comprised of two NECA Boston contractors and Mrs. Angelika Angino, Fran’s widow, will review and rank each application. To ensure a completely fair review process, committee members will not see the name of the applicant. Each application is evaluated and ranked based on academic achievement, community involvement or extracurricular activities, financial need, and special circumstances.
