Summer Brings New Work, New Opportunities for Our NECA Members
Summer means increased construction activity and new opportunities for our members. This month's newsletter highlights the true source of our industry’s strength: the community of contractors who invest in quality workmanship and build lasting relationships with colleagues and clients alike.
Our NECA Contractor Spotlight on Citywide Electric is a perfect example. Tommy Marmiani and Lori Berardino have built a growing business by focusing on quality, timely deliverables, and the confidence to take on new challenges.
Their work on the Riverwalk development in Salem demonstrates how even a relatively small shop can deliver complex, high-profile projects while creating opportunities for future growth. The principals also speak to the value of NECA membership and the resources available to help contractors of every size succeed.
May was also a busy month for our Chapter. Jobsite safety remains everyone’s priority and responsibility. Thanks go to the Safety Committee and all who participated in another outstanding Safety Day. The event reinforced NECA Boston’s profound commitment to ensuring every worker returns home safely at the end of every workday.
The Boston Chapter is equally committed to developing the future leaders of our industry. This month’s newsletter highlights the efforts of our Industry Executive Committee to continue to provide emerging executives with the knowledge and perspective needed to guide our industry forward. We also report on our Future Leaders networking event, a lively gathering of next-generation contractors and associate members. The gathering proved the perfect opportunity for people to learn and connect.
Of course, we never sleep on advocacy, and May offered important opportunities to advance policies that support responsible growth and economic opportunity across the Commonwealth. Our testimony in support of the Mass Wins Act emphasized the importance of infrastructure investment, housing production, workforce development, and electrical system modernization—priorities that create opportunities for our contractors while keeping Massachusetts competitive.
Finally, I’m happy to share that I completed the Spring 2026 CAP Collaborative leadership program. This experience offered a great opportunity to represent NECA Boston’s goals and concerns regarding the future of the Commonwealth with leaders from government, business, and the nonprofit sector.
Once again, thank you all for your continued engagement and support of NECA Greater Boston. As always, stay safe, stay engaged, and enjoy a successful summer season.
