Spring Brings ‘Next Level’ Achievement and Engagement from NECA Members
Winter is behind us – at last! – and the arrival of the warmer months means new work for our NECA member contractors who specialize in outdoor projects. It's only fitting to begin this month's newsletter by highlighting Coviello Electric, a second-generation family business whose skilled work lights up thoroughfares, sports fields, and transit hubs across the region.
Following this remarkable success, NECA members continue to deliver at every level.
And there are more exciting developments to celebrate. At the policy level, NECA applauds Governor Maura Healey’s new Energy Supply Executive Order, which calls for 10 gigawatts of new energy resources and 5 gigawatts of energy storage by 2035. This “all-of-the-above” strategy aims to strengthen grid reliability, reduce costs, and prepare Massachusetts for significant growth in electricity demand. Achieving these ambitious goals will depend on sustained investment in modern energy infrastructure — work that NECA contractors and the IBEW Local 103 workforce are uniquely positioned to deliver.
Just as policies evolve, so does our workforce. During Women in Construction Week, NECA Boston and IBEW Local 103 hosted the 6th Annual Women in Construction Dinner, bringing together professionals from across the electrical construction sector— from apprentices to executives — to share experiences, build connections, and recognize the growing impact of women in the industry.
This spirit of connection extends beyond celebrations. Contractors traveled to Puerto Rico for the Eastern Region Membership Meeting, gaining insights on technology, mental health, legislative developments, and the future of connected electrical ecosystems while strengthening relationships across the NECA network.
Finally, NECA Boston is deeply invested in the next generation of industry professionals. Our Student Chapter at Wentworth Institute of Technology hosted a hands-on tool demonstration with Milwaukee Tool, giving students direct exposure to industry technology and career pathways with NECA contractors.
It all adds up to “next level” achievement and engagement from NECA members. Together and individually, our contractors are building a stronger workforce, upgrading infrastructure, and powering the Commonwealth’s future prosperity and success.
