Looking Back, Powering Forward

As we close out another year for NECA Boston, this holiday season offers all of us an opportunity to reflect on what we’ve accomplished and the challenges our member contractors have faced and overcome. Collectively, and as individual professionals, we’ve laid a solid foundation to look to 2026 with optimism and a renewed sense of purpose.

For inspiration, look no further than this month’s Contractor Spotlight. Kathleen Guinee’s journey with Aetna Fire Alarm Service Co. is a powerful example of foresight and follow-through. Guinee, taking over the business from her father, anticipated the evolution of fire alarm systems as a distinct specialty, integrating life safety at every phase of construction. Today, Aetna sets the industry standard for safety and accountability, both regionally and at the national level. We also dive into Kathy’s remarkable tenure as NECA Boston president, where her impact is felt across all building trades in the Commonwealth.

We’re also proud to share the release of the ELECTRI 4x10 Work Week Study, thanks to the leadership of Matt Guarracino of JM Electrical. This research gives contractors meaningful data to evaluate alternative work schedules and adapt to the evolving needs of today’s workforce and job sites.

December also gave us a chance to connect and celebrate together. Our Holiday Party at the Four Seasons was a wonderful reminder of the strength of our membership, a community built on relationships, shared successes, and family. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so special.

Heading into 2026, we’re proud to unveil our January education lineup. As ever, our goal is to ensure that our members stay informed, competitive, and prepared for tomorrow’s challenges. On tap for the year are courses on construction technology and estimating, legal and regulatory updates, federal opportunities, and new tools shaping the future of our work.

NECA Boston has excelled and advanced in 2025 thanks to your engagement, support, and continued commitment to excellence. Together, we will build a prosperous and rewarding 2026 for our industry. Wishing you and your families a safe, joyful holiday season and a strong start to the new year.
