Earlier this year, home security product maker SimpliSafe opened its new expanded headquarters in Boston. Taking up three floors of the 100 Summer Street high-rise in the financial district, the roughly 110,000 square foot office layout is sleek, expertly crafted, and a dramatic showcase not only for SimpliSafe’s line of security products but also for IA Interior Architects and WB Engineering+Consultants, who designed the space, and the contractors who executed those plans so successfully.
This is certainly true of the space’s elaborate electrical work, which was handled by NECA Contractor, Performance Electrical Contractors, Inc. Based in Holbrook, MA, and serving the greater Boston area, Performance is a full-service electrical contractor specializing in high-end tenant interiors. Recent projects include the relocated Cushman & Wakefield hub at 125 High Street and the Kenmore Square redevelopment project, among many others.
“Tenant interior is our bread and butter,” says Performance Electrical President Jeff Catalano, who describes the company’s team as “high-end” specialists.
The company put its methods to work in a big way on the sprawling SimpliSafe assignment, a happy collaboration with the project’s general contractor, Commodore Builders. Performance Electrical’s piece of the project, which commenced in January 2022 and wrapped up early this year, involved a broad scope of work, including lighting and wiring for three floors of open-concept office space with work cubicles, a call center, and testing labs for product development.
“It was a very heavily coordinated job,” explains Project Manager Rob Cayer. “The work involved lots of open ceiling space and demanded a lot of upfront work to ensure those ceilings were as clean and uncluttered as possible. It was challenging, but those challenges made the space what it is.”
The showpiece of the new headquarters is a full-scale, indoor tiny house that serves as a unique demo space for SimpliSafe’s extensive line of home security products. Located on the fourth floor, the roughly 100-square-foot domicile offers visitors a way to experience how SimpliSafe security lighting, safety cameras, alerts, and other devices perform in a realistic setting. The Performance Electrical team aided in the intricate installation of the design and its security components.
“Client-focused” has been the mantra for Performance Electrical from the beginning. Performance was founded in 2008 and has gradually grown over the last 15 years, priding itself on great workmanship and satisfied clients.
Clearly, the Performance Electrical brain trust knows its company’s strengths and builds on them, creating attractive, cutting-edge modern workspaces for Greater Boston’s growing corporate community.
