Please be advised that the Trustees of the National Electrical Benefit Fund (NEBF) and the National Employees Benefit Board (NEBB) have agreed to a temporary amendment to the Trust Agreement. This temporary amendment will waive the requirement for the 3% NEBF contribution on federally mandated sick pay due to the COVID-19 virus. The waiver is for up to a maximum of 80 hours and it is effective for the period of April 16, 2020 through December 31, 2020. Please see the attached summary which explains the terms and conditions of the temporary suspension. A hard copy of the summary is being mailed to all contributing employers.
NEBF Sick Pay Suspension Notice
As a reminder, sick pay contributions are not required on all other fringe benefits under the Collective Bargaining Agreements the Boston Chapter has negotiated with IBEW Locals 103, 490, 567, and 1253. With the exclusion of the NEBF, fringe benefit contributions are on actual hours worked. Also, please keep in mind that this exclusion only applies to sick leave required under the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act. NEBF contributions are still required on other non-work pay such as holiday, vacation, jury duty, or sick pay under the Massachusetts sick pay law.
