NECA Boston Joins Industry Leaders in Support of Project Labor Agreements
NECA Greater Boston Executive Manager Kristen Gowin joined fellow construction industry leaders in authoring a recent Banker & Tradesman op-ed praising Governor Healey’s executive order on Project Labor Agreements (PLAs). The piece, titled “Healey’s Executive Order on PLAs Is Good Governing and Good Business,” highlights how PLAs promote project efficiency, workforce safety, and equitable access to good-paying jobs.
The authors point to real-world examples—like the PLA-backed Massachusetts Veterans Home project in Holyoke, which is ahead of schedule and under budget—as proof that PLAs deliver results. They also counter misconceptions, noting that PLAs are inclusive and open to both union and non-union contractors who meet the high standards set for public construction work.
NECA Boston is honored to support policies that uphold quality, safety, and opportunity in the electrical construction industry.
