NECA Boston Hosts Ontario Contractors’ 75th Anniversary Convention

The reach of NECA’s network of professional contractors stretches across borders to the greater enrichment of our entire industry.

This September, NECA Boston was excited to host the Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario (ECAO) for its 75th annual industry convention here in Boston. The event provided both organizations a terrific opportunity for our member contractors to learn, grow, and elevate within our larger industry. The power of our professional network to collaborate and share best practices affirms NECA Boston’s signature: Our Network Builds Yours.

NECA BOSTON was pleased to welcome the Ontario Contractors along with several of their IBEW business managers from eleven local areas to the City of Boston, alongside Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and IBEW Local 103 Business Manager Lou Antonellis. Check out the video.

Site Visits Complement the Experience

In addition to the programs held at the ECAO convention site at Boston’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel, NECA Boston helped coordinate company site visits for the group. More than 100 electrical and telecommunications contractors from Ontario had the opportunity to tour the prefabrication facilities of  Gaston Electrical and Sullivan & McLaughlin. During the tours, the discussions surrounding prefabrication and its role in the industry were thought-provoking and impactful.

Contractors also visited JATC of Greater Boston, heard from Training Director Chris Sherlock about our apprenticeship program and progressive curriculum,  and toured JATC’s recently renovated and expanded facilities. They finished their business session at IBEW Local 103, where Business Manager Lou Antonellis and all of the Local 103 business agents and staff addressed the group and joined in for lunch.

No doubt such exchanges of information, experience, and practical skills strengthen our industry and fortify our members’ competitive advantage, both in the Boston market and for our contractors in the North.

Thank you, ECAO, for the opportunity to visit with you here in Boston. Another example of NECA and IBEW coming together to educate, network, and move the industry forward. Our NECA Network Builds Yours.
