More than 50 NECA Boston Contractors traveled to San Diego for the 2024 NECA National Convention and Tradeshow. The Chapter was well represented with contractors from Boston, Maine, and New Hampshire along with students from our Wentworth Student Chapter. The Convention was filled with educational workshops, speakers, and the biggest electrical trade show in the US.

NECA President Kathy Guinee of Aetna Fire Alarm was joined by Lou Antonellis, IBEW Local 103 Business Manager on a dynamic panel, The Power of Positive Labor Relations with IBEW Business Managers. Joined by other business managers and NECA Chapter representatives from around the country, they discussed best practices and gave insight into what goes into an effective relationship between NECA and IBEW. The audience was encouraged, even inspired by the collaborative joint efforts here in Boston when it comes to marketing and growing our industry to ensure our contractors are winning more jobs and using the best-in-class workforce to complete those jobs.

Additionally, two NECA Boston member companies had employees graduate from the Innovation Institute and were nationally recognized at the Convention. Colby Bruce of Stewart Electric and Bobby Falzone of Lynnwell Associates completed the yearlong professional training program designed for future executives to become visionary thinks. We want to congratulate them on their hard work and continued dedication to improving their companies and the industry. If you would like to learn more about the institute, please reach out to our office.

Lastly, students from Wentworth’s NECA student chapter participated in several events geared toward the next generation of industry professionals throughout the Convention. They were accompanied by Professor Sharon Brown of the construction management department who has been instrumental in providing continued support for our future workforce and encouraging them to pursue opportunities in the electrical construction industry.
